2:30 - 3:15 p.m. – Panel - Pricing climate risk

Climate risk has historically not been embedded into financial risk models in the fixed income markets. And while actionable climate risk data at a security level is becoming a must-have for financial institutions, it is not always clear where actors in markets are in the life cycle of integrating climate risk into investment decisions. Because of this, climate risk has not been fully “priced into” fixed income markets.

Carling Hay, Director of Climate and Social Impact Analytics, ICE (Moderator)
Elree Winnett Seelig, Managing Director and Head of ESG, Citi
Dr. Vian Sharif, Founder, NatureAlpha, and Global Head of Sustainability, FNZ Group

The economic cost of mitigation of and adaptation to climate change is tremendous; trillions in USD are needed each year. This ‘climate finance gap’ is massive and must be closed if sovereign and sub-sovereign governments – and the businesses that depend on their healthy functioning – are to be stable and sustainable.
