Brian C. Matt, CFA, is Head of ESG Advisory for the New York Stock Exchange, and is responsible for the NYSE’s relationship with its listed companies with respect to their progress on ESG. He has over 20 years of experience in working with corporate investor relations teams to help them craft and deliver their investment stories. Prior to NYSE, Brian was head of ESG for Americas for IHS Markit’s Issuer Solutions group, and led the buildout of a product suite helping companies to evaluate their ESG disclosures and engage with stakeholders. He was previously Global Head of Strategy & Innovation, as well as led the buildout of various corporate IR-focused products including investor targeting, situational analytics, and corporate governance / shareholder engagement platforms, for Ipreo. Brian is based in New York and is a CFA charterholder.

Larry Lawrence is Head of Sustainable Finance Data at ICE.

In this role, Larry is responsible for developing and delivering ICE’s data strategy and product roadmap surrounding sustainable finance. He works with financial market participants to support their and their clients’ sustainable finance goals in areas such as ESG.

He was previously head of ESG and climate product strategy for the wealth management, private assets, fund ratings, ESG reporting product lines at MSCI. He joined MSCI from KLD, a pioneer in the field of ESG investing. Larry served as a product manager with KLD, RiskMetrics and later MSCI, where he was instrumental in the development of the firm’s ESG ratings, governance metrics and ESG controversies product lines, as well as MSCI’s ESG platforms.

Larry holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Newbury College.

Phoebe DeVries is a Senior Manager on the ICE Sustainable Finance Team. In her role, she focuses on content development, research, and thought leadership, with the goal of helping to communicate the work that the team is doing to clients and the broader public.

Dr. Carling Hay is the Director of Climate and Social Impact Analytics at ICE and was formerly the Lead Climate Scientist at risQ, a National Science Foundation funded start-up that ICE acquired in 2021. Carling holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Toronto and her expertise covers a broad range of disciplines including statistical modeling, climate change, and sea-level rise. Her academic work has been highlighted by the US Senate and gained media coverage in 30+ news outlets including The New York Times, BBC, and The Economist. In her current role at ICE, Carling’s uses climate and social science datasets to quantify, and simplify, complex climate and social interactions.

Elree Winnett Seelig is a Managing Director and Head of ESG for Citi’s Markets business. Elree, who has worked at Citi for eleven years, was previously Head of Strategy for Commodities at Citi. Prior to joining Citi, Elree was Head of Energy Client Management for Commodities at BNP Paribas, and worked in Natural Resources Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers and Utility Project Finance at NationsBank (now Bank of America). She also spent 11 years working in conservation and community development in southern Africa and consulting for venture capital firms investing in renewable energy. Elree regularly speaks to the largest asset managers, asset owners, corporates, industry bodies, and regulators on ESG, climate and biodiversity risk integration, and energy transition, including voluntary carbon markets and liquidity / assets re-pricing. She is a Fellow of the Linnean Society and in 2022 she was also a Turner Fellow at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative.

Dr. Vian Sharif is founder of nature and biodiversity insights platform NatureAlpha, and Head of Sustainability at FNZ Group. She leads the development of innovative technology solutions across financial platforms to catalyse the shift to more sustainable capital allocations, and ultimately a more sustainable world, working closely with academics and scientists from leading global institutions. Prior to this she spent over a decade at global asset manager Investec. As part of a number of governmental and international sustainability advisory groups, she was a Member of the Taskforce for Nature Related Disclosures Technical Experts Group and the UK Government's Business Advisory group for the Convention on Biodiversity. She was also a founder member of the Taskforce on Nature Markets.

Justin Marlowe is a Research Professor in the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Municipal Finance. His research and teaching are focused on public finance, with emphasis on public capital markets, infrastructure finance, state and local budgeting, and financial disclosure. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Municipal Finance Journal, and he co-hosts the Public Money Pod, a podcast produced by the Center for Municipal Finance.

Dr. Marlowe has authored or edited five books – including the forthcoming Public Debt Management: Strategy and Evidence (Cambridge University Press) – and several dozen academic articles and book chapters. He is also an admitted expert witness, and has served on technical advisory bodies for the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, the National Academies of Science, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, among many other public, private, and non-profit organizations. In 2018 he was elected to the National Academy of Public Administration, he is a Senior Fellow at the Government Finance Officers Association, and he contributes a regular column at Government Finance Review.

Dr. Marlowe received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is a Certified Government Financial Manager.

Ben Keys is the Rowan Family Foundation Professor of Real Estate and Finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Keys's recent research has focused on climate risk, housing, and mortgage markets; foreign investment in the U.S. housing market; and the geography of household financial distress. His research has been published in such journals as the Quarterly Journal of Economics,  American Economic Review,  Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies, and has been profiled in the Economist, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times.

Before joining Wharton, Keys taught at the University of Chicago and worked as a staff economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. He holds a B.A. in economics and political science from Swarthmore College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.

She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Strategy and Impact Investor in Residence at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and serves as an adviser to investment firms developing and managing impact investment strategies. Prior to joining Impact Engine, Priya served as Chief Investment Officer at Schwartz Capital Group, a single-family office investing across global markets.
